Marine Navigation is all about where you are and getting to where you want to be. We help you achieve
more. To provide and improve our services, we may use certain technical data. However, we fully respect
your privacy.
We believe privacy is about freedom and being able to decide for yourself how your data is used and
by whom.
This is why we have established our Privacy Principles:
- We do not collect or link any personal data to specific users. All usage is anonymous, and no
identifiable user data is stored or accessible.
- If any data is used to enhance your experience, we will explain which data is involved, why it is
used, and how long it is retained.
- We only use data for the purpose for which it was collected.
- We keep as little data as possible, only for as long as needed, and we anonymize or destroy it when
no longer needed.
- You can always opt-in or opt-out of features that may affect your data usage.
- We protect all data using reasonable and appropriate security measures.
- Any third parties working on our behalf will follow our privacy commitments.
- We do not share your data without consent, unless legally required.
- We will answer any questions you may have about your privacy.
Marine Navigation does not require user accounts and does not collect or transmit personal data or
navigation data (such as your location, routes, or waypoints) in the background. All data you create or
store in the app remains on your device.
Some optional features require an explicit action by you and may involve a temporary file transfer to
complete the requested operation. For example, when you upload S-57/ENC files via our dedicated upload
portal, the files are transferred over a secure connection, are accessible only through a temporary
SID/code, are not associated with any user account, and are automatically deleted after a short period.
Likewise, GPX import/export is performed locally on your device; if you choose to share an exported GPX
file (e.g., via email or another app), the file is handed to the app/service you select and FishPoints
does not receive a copy.
Privacy and Data Processing Policy
We operate according to the privacy laws applicable in your country. Because we are rooted in Europe,
European privacy laws also apply. These laws are considered among the most comprehensive in the world.
Our company policy reflects these laws and is applied globally.
Definitions
- Personal Data: any information relating to an identified or identifiable person.
- Processing: any operation performed on Personal Data.
General Principles
- Marine Navigation does not collect or process any Personal Data directly linked to an identifiable
user.
- All usage is anonymous and not associated with an account.
- We do not require users to register or provide personal details (name, email, etc.).
- We process Personal Data fairly and lawfully only where absolutely necessary.
- We collect data only for specific, legitimate purposes and never use it in ways incompatible with
those purposes.
- We ensure data is adequate, relevant, and minimal.
- We retain data no longer than necessary and apply anonymization whenever possible.
- We avoid collecting any sensitive data (e.g. ethnic origin, beliefs, health).
- We avoid processing any data from users under the age of 13.
- If data is ever processed (e.g., server logs, crash diagnostics), it is anonymized and cannot
identify you.
Data Collection and Usage
- Our application functions fully without collecting personal data.
- We may log anonymous diagnostic data (e.g. app crashes, device type, route processing statistics)
for technical purposes only.
- Any usage data is stored in aggregate form and not used to track individuals.
No User Accounts Required
Marine Navigation no longer requires any form of user registration or login. You remain anonymous
throughout your use of the app.
Third Parties and International Transfers
- If third-party services are used (e.g., analytics, crash reporting), they operate under strict data
minimization and anonymization contracts.
- In cases where anonymized technical data is transferred outside the EEA, we ensure proper safeguards
are in place.
Cookies
Our website may use cookies solely for technical and performance-related purposes. No cookies are used to
track individuals or to gather personal data.
Your Rights
- Since we do not collect identifiable data, users do not need to access or correct stored personal
data.
- If you believe your data has been processed improperly, you may contact us, and we will investigate.
Policy Updates
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the app or in applicable regulations. Updates will be
posted on our website.
